October 2022

Today our colleague Sebastian gives us a little insight into his work in the field of Smart Technology:

“We mainly deal with innovations and disruptive technologies and accompany our customers from ideation to proof of concept. Internally, I am responsible for our own Mercedes-Benz Consulting wallet solution, which we also offer to our customers as a product. Our wallet solution allows us to create digital passes that end users can store in a wallet app on their smartphones, such as tickets, customer cards, or vouchers. Connected to event platforms, CRMs, or PoS systems, our wallet can be used for event ticketing or mobile payment use cases. In the customer projects I am currently involved, in my focus is on product management of digital applications.

I am thrilled to be part of Mercedes-Benz Consulting and my team. I am constantly learning new things and dealing with tomorrow’s innovations. For me, that is what makes the work here so special. I am currently working on a project called “Handover Companion”. This digital web application supports salespeople and product experts in retail when handing over vehicles to Mercedes-Benz customers. I am supporting the specialist department in this project from a product management perspective and in the global rollout.”

What do you like most about your job?

“The team spirit. My colleagues are very helpful and open-minded in all projects. There is no doubt that we support each other whenever we work together. I noticed that from day one. Professionally, we all have the common goal of being pioneers and doing our best – I notice that in our projects. And of course, there’s no shortage of fun ;-).”

Finally, we asked Sebastian what he thinks is important in consulting, but especially in his Smart Technology area:

“Spontaneously, two things come to mind:

1.      First, projects are becoming more and more diverse and methodical approaches are needed to get to the core of the problem. That is why you should be able to adapt as many approaches as possible. Mercedes-Benz Consulting also offers many opportunities for further training, for example with design thinking seminars.

2.      Second, it is especially critical to put yourself in the user’s shoes when developing digital solutions. Therefore, taking user-centricity seriously and emphasizing it rather than just using it as a buzzword is very helpful. Analyzing the target group in detail and dealing with its challenges is the be-all and end-all.”
